Web site | @markcoker

Mark Coker is founder and CEO of Smashwords, an ebook publishing and distribution platform for authors, publishers and their readers. Smashwords launched February 2008 at Tools of Change in New York.

Mark’s previous startup, BestCalls.com, an online directory of investor events, was acquired in 2003 and is now owned and operated by the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.

Mark is also co-author, with his wife, of Boob Tube, a novel that explores the dark side of Hollywood celebrity. It was his frustration trying to get Boob Tube published that led him to develop Smashwords.

Smashwords, a new Silicon Valley digital publishing startup, plans to do for self-published ebook authors what YouTube has done for amateur video producers. Web 2.0 meets Publishing 2.0.
