Travel publishers have been particularly successful in leveraging their content in multiple formats, while continuing to maintain book sales. Why have travel publishers been successful and what can other publishers learn from them? A panel of experts will discuss how multiple platforms can strengthen brands and grow vibrant publishing businesses.
Rob Flynn is VP & Global Travel Publisher for Frommer’s, a Wiley imprint. He is responsible for all Wiley’s travel print and digital publishing programs – including the best-selling travel brand in the U.S., Frommer’s.
During his 15-year career at the crossroads of travel publishing and new media, Rob has led many successful initiatives from Web site development to development of mobile products and content services.
From 2002-2008, Rob was CEO of Whatsonwhen, a market-leading business-to-business travel content and services provider based in London and acquired by Wiley in 2006.
Prior to joining Whatsonwhen, Rob was the director of new media at Lonely Planet Publications. He was the architect of the Lonely Planet Web site and launcehd the successful Thorn Tree travelers’ forum, a precursor of today’s community-generated travel-content sites.
