Proprietary data from Bowker’s business intelligence product, Pubtrack Consumer, will be presented about book buyer behavior related to where consumers are buying, what is influencing their decisions, what is their demographic profile, among other areas of interest. The presentation will focus the data more heavily on the online market where we believe publishers have a larger opportunity to influence buyer behavior and have more flexibility with regard to their content and marketing stratetgies.

We will try to secure two or three representative publishers who are using consumer behavior data to influence their strategic decisions to present some real-life examples.

Angela D'Agostino

Bowker

Angela D’Agostino is the Senior Vice President of Business Development for Bowker. She joined Bowker in 1990 and has been instrumental in transforming the company from a traditional print reference publisher (Books In Print was selling 25,000 units back then) to a provider of essential data and services for publishers, book retailers, corporations and libraries throughout the world. Her responsibilities range across all markets Bowker serves and are aimed at developing the company’s long-term strategy. Angela initiated the expansion of Bowker’s product and service offerings into the sales data and business intelligence space, now collectively known as PubTrack, through in-house development and strategic acquisitions. Angela also led the development of strategic relationships with emerging players in the book world such as Google and Sony. Most recently she has been spearheading the development and execution of Bowker’s strategy around digital content.

Angela has a B.A. in English Literature from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Bowker has been serving libraries, publishers and book retailers since 1872. Bowker’s Books In Print is the “Database of Record” for Barnes & Noble, Borders, Follett, Missouri Book Services and Sony and is used by thousands of retailers, publishers and libraries worldwide.
