This panel includes publishers who are currently tackling the challenges and opportunities of mobile, and mobile content experts who will give a glimpse into the growth and changes yet to come.
Kate Eltham is a writer and creative industries professional based in Brisbane, Australia. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Writers Centre and has previously worked as a small business consultant focusing on micro enterprises, non-profits and individual artists in the creative sectors.
Marc Prud’hommeaux is the Principal Developer and Founder of Lexcycle, a company that is bringing the digital revolution to readers around the world. Lexcycle is the company behind the Stanza Reader for the iPhone, the most popular ebook reader on the App Store. Prior to starting Lexcycle, Marc was on the Weblogic engineering team at BEA Systems. In 2005, BEA acquired SolarMetric, a company Marc co-founded. At SolarMetric, Marc was a key member of the R&D team. Marc has also worked at TechTrader and MIL 3 (now Opnet Technologies). Marc holds a BA in Math and Philosophy from Cornell University.
Brent is VP, Digital & Internet for Harlequin Enterprises Ltd., a leading publisher of women’s fiction and the world’s largest publisher of series romance. Brent leads the strategic development and operational execution of Harlequin’s digital publishing and marketing programs. This includes Harlequin’s own site featuring a robust community of readers, a leading and widely recognized ebook program, digital audio, mobile distribution, digital only content and leveraging Harlequin’s famous brand in the web 2.0 world.
Brent has over 16 years marketing experience within publishing covering trade, educational and children’s products. Brent has developed internet marketing and commerce solutions for over ten years including Harlequin’s ebook strategy and site development. He has worked in the U.S., Canadian and UK publishing markets.
Peter Brantley is the Director of the BookServer Project at the Internet Archive, a San Francisco-based not for profit library. He contributes regularly to several blogs on libraries and publishing, discussing transformations in media and information access. He serves on the board of the International Digital Publishing Forum, the standards setting body for digital books. Peter has significant experience with academic research libraries and digital library development programs, and was previously the Executive Director of the Digital Library Federation, a not for profit membership organization of research and national libraries.
