Brian Napack is the President of MacMillan US, a recognized publisher of books, digital content, educational media, and magazines. Macmillan’s brands include leading St. Martins Press; Farrar, Strauss & Giroux; Scientific American; Henry Holt; Bedford, W.H. Freeman and Worth.
Napack came to Holtzbrinck from leading strategy consulting firm L.E.K. Consulting, where was a Partner in its Media and Entertainment practice and the co-head of its Education and Publishing practice. As a consultant, he advised senior executives at leading media and telecommunications companies as they work to understand and exploit opportunities in the digital economy. He has served as a strategic advisor to large private equity investors on their investments in the media business and related sectors.
As an operating executive, Napack has built digital and traditional media businesses at companies such as The Walt Disney Company, Simon & Schuster, and ThinkBox, an Internet education company where he was the founder and CEO. His work as an executive and advisor has spanned the Internet, book publishing, magazine publishing, education, children’s media, filmed entertainment, television, and branded merchandising. Throughout his career, he has focused on the creation of media businesses in education and entertainment that leverage new technologies and distribution platforms to address evolving market demands.
Clancy Marshall, a 14-year publishing veteran, is the General Manager of DynamicBooks, new generation of interactive online textbooks. Prior to DynamicBooks, Marshall was instrumental with Macmillan’s W.H. Freeman group (higher education textbooks), first as acquisitions editor, and most, recently as publisher. Prior to Macmillan, Marshall managed marketing at John Wiley and Sons. She began her career in sales and worked at both Jones and Bartlett and Harcourt publishers. Marshall received her bachelor of arts degree at the University of Richmond.
