When Apple denied their interest in developing 21st century reading experiences, Enhanced Editions was set up to “think different” about the book in the age of the iPhone.

In this keynote co-founder Peter Collingridge will look at the reasons behind the business, the mistakes made along the way, and the fundamental challenges involved in tailor making digital books for the iPhone.

Key questions:

  • How can books continue to prove their relevance and add something new to the digital and cultural landscape?
  • How and why was Enhanced Editions set up as a new business? Who was involved? Why did we decide to focus on iPhone development? Why did we choose the projects we did?
  • We describe ourselves as publishers solving a technical problem, as opposed to technologists solving a publishing problem. What does that mean?
  • Case studies of the design, editorial, production, and marketing decisions
  • Insight into the pitfalls and anxieties of developing for the app store
