Abraham Murray is a product manager on Google’s Books team, working on multiple
Books products, including Google Editions and Metadata. Prior to Books he worked on
Google Maps where he launched the US Voter Info product to answer user questions
around [where do I vote] for the 2009 elections.
Prior to joining Google, Abraham was co-founder and CTO of Web 2.0 start-up
doodleboard inc., where he directed offshore development and worked on marketing,
sales, and fundraising. Earlier, he was a product manager at BAE Systems, where he
worked on unmanned aerial vehicles for the Department of Defense.
Abraham earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of
Rhode Island, where he graduated summa cum laude. He has a master’s degree in
electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he also graduated
summa cum laude, and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Appointed Chief Information Officer and Head of Global Electronic Product Development in February 2007, Bill is responsible for the e-product technology development and enabling enterprise systems support across Elsevier. In this position, he leads the technology division in building on-line technology solutions that help scientific, technology and medical professionals achieve better outcomes. From 1999 to 2007, Bill was Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Dow Jones & Company. He was previously with Hartford Life as SVP of Information Technology and with Fleet Bank as SVP ofInformation Technology Services.
Rich Rothstein joined HarperCollins Publishers, Inc. in August of 2001, and brings more than twenty-five years of expertise in bringing together business, emerging technologies and entertainment. In his role as Vice President, Emerging Technology, Rich conceived, developed and implemented many new programs including enhanced eBook production, the development of a global digital warehouse of all of HarperCollins’ content and the Bookseller+ program which gave small independent booksellers the ability to provide free wi-fi internet access. These new initiatives enabled HarperCollins to participate in emerging business opportunities while maintaining control of its assets and reducing costs.
Andrew Savikas is the Chief Executive Officer at Safari Books Online. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he held the positions of VP of Digital Initiatives at O’Reilly Media, Program Chair for O’Reilly’s Tools of Change for Publishing conference, and interim Chief Executive Officer of Safari Books Online. Andrew blogs at safaribooksonline.com/blog and toc.oreilly.com, and is also a regular contributor to the O’Reilly Radar blog and to “Book: A Futurist’s Manifesto”, a collection of essays on the future of publishing, book.pressbooks.com. Andrew previously led the digital publishing and ebook program and strategy for O’Reilly Media, including both print and digital production of all O’Reilly books. He sits on several boards, including the Book Industry Study Group and the International Digital Publishing Forum, and is on advisory boards for Bookshare the University of Michigan Press. He frequently speaks at technology and publishing conferences all over the world and is also the author of Word Hacks: Tips & Tools for Taming your Text.
