As the range of eReading devices continues to expand, publishers are finding that enhanced eBooks and apps aren’t simple, natural extensions of their printed counterparts. They require a great deal of careful planning due to differences in eReader capabilities and implementations, as well as complexities of the original publication.

This case study based session will take one book, the World English Bible, and discuss the challenges and opportunities in creating enhanced eBooks (intelligent table of contents, bidirectional linking, external links to study files and geospatial data, hidden text, media support, etc.) that take full advantage of the capabilities of many platforms, while minimizing the creation of device-specific versions and processes. Join Eric Freese for a show-and-tell session including key considerations, traps, pitfalls and lessons learned.

This session is sponsored by Aptara
