Dave Gunn is an accessible information expert from RNIB (the Royal National Institute of Blind People, UK), leading work to influence the development of standards and guidelines to improve access to electronic publications. Dave is on the IDPF EPUB 3.0 working group, and is Chair of the UK Association for Accessible Formats Electronic Documents Subject Area.

RNIB is the UK’s leading blindness charity which works for the benefit of blind, partially sighted and print impaired people in the UK and for worldwide benefit. As a founding member of the DAISY Consortium, the Global Right to Read Alliance, and an active member of the World Blind Union, RNIB’s work benefits people who are print impaired worldwide.

Accessible publishing practices have been hotly debated in the industry over the last couple of years. To some accessibility is considered a costly issue with limited return, but this presentation will discuss the commercial benefits for considering accessibility, and show that it doesn't need to differ significantly from current practice, but could open publications to a larger paying audience.
