The publishing environment is changing rapidly. New digital platforms are being invented, and for publishers it can be confusing and difficult to choose which direction to take their products. In this session, I will discuss how we at National Geographic Learning have taken our first steps to publish to tablet devices by experimenting with new print-to-digital publishing models.

Ana L. Vela is the Standards and Process Implementation Manager for National Geographic Learning, and has been in educational publishing for 10 years. Ana is a national award-winning graphic designer, and later transitioned to publishing technology and process improvement. Ana has a B.A. in Advertising, with a minor in Communication Design from Texas State University-San Marcos (San Marcos, TX). As the Standards and Process Implementation Manager, her responsibilities include researching new publishing technologies and implementing them in to the product development process.
