Global eBook Domination Through Better Metadata

At Kobo, we’re now selling ebooks into every country in the world, with a special focus on key territories. When we launch in a new territory, we spend a great deal of time explaining to our partners how to effectively list their titles in this new market – and it’s something we continue to see confusion on.

This presentation benefits publishers by providing what they need to know in order to make sure their books are available in foreign territories, at the right price, in the right categories – and it benefits Kobo to have more titles available to our global consumers.

At the end of this session, attendees will have an understanding of:

  • What the advantages and disadvantages of currency conversion are
  • How categorization can differ culturally
  • Where to use tax inclusive pricing
  • When you’re obligated to set a local price
  • Where you shouldn’t use decimals in prices

And, in the tradition of data-rich Kobo presentations, I’ll be sharing statistics on what prices are working in key global currencies.
