Scott Andrew James is an author and the founder of Redhat Project, a book marketing consultancy. He works with authors, publishers, national brands, start-ups and creative professionals to integrate online and offline community outreach. His book marketing work includes consulting with authors and publishers about book launches, teaching workshops around digital marketing strategies for authors, and helping to design and manage the award-winning Underground Book Club for Karen Essex. His marketing background includes web content strategy and social media management with Attack! Marketing, Influence People, and Water Words that Work. A growing part of his business is consulting with authors ann other content creators on building successful KickStarter campaigns. His expertise is partly based in his own experience—he launched a Kickstarter project and raised 129% of its goal for his novel, Sidewalk Ritual which he self-published in October, 2012. He draws inspiration in creating communities bridging real-world connections with online channels comes from a decade of work as a whitewater rafting guide, an experiential educator, and an outdoor education director.
